First Steps at The W
Transitioning to our university
Now that you have applied for graduation at Copiah Lincoln Community College, it is time to take the next steps to becoming an Elementary Education teacher. Here are the steps to help you with the process:
STEP 1: Admissions
Apply to The W. There is no application fee to apply. You will need to submit your official college transcript. Once the MUW admissions office receives everything, you should have an admissions decision within 48 hours. REMEMBER: You will need to also send an official college transcript once you complete your program at Co-Lin.
STEP 2: Scholarships
When you apply for admissions, you automatically apply for Transfer Scholarships. The MUW School of Education also offers departmental scholarships for which you can apply.
STEP 3: Financial Aid
Apply for Federal Student Aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The school code for MUW is 002422. You will be able to check the status of your financial aid on your Banner account.
STEP 4: Banner
Once you are admitted, you will be able to activate your Banner account. Banner will be where you can check your financial aid, register for courses, check grades, and see your account summary. Instructions on how to set up your Banner account can be found through the Office of Admissions.
STEP 5: Advising
Students will need an ACT composite score of 21 or higher or minimum Praxis Core scores to progress through the Elementary Education major. The current Praxis Core requirements for each section of the test are: Reading (156 or higher), Writing (162 or higher), and Math (150 or higher). Please call for additional consultation concerning testing.
