About the Master of Education Program

The M.Ed. in Education is an advanced program for Elementary Education that provides a focus on Curriculum and Instruction (C & I). The Master’s in C & I is for teachers who want to enhance their knowledge and skills while advancing in the profession as Master Teachers. Earning this M.Ed. degree will elevate a Mississippi teaching license to class AA and prepare completers for leadership roles in the school setting.

This program meets the needs of professional teachers who are already certified. The Master of Education program of study provides opportunity to strengthen advanced pedagogical and research skills.

The M.Ed. in Education is a 30-hour degree program that emphasizes diversity, ethical decision making, instructional supervision, and the integration of theory with practice that includes technology-based best practices in curriculum and instruction.

M.Ed. Admission Requirements

  • Online application
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Teaching License
  • Satisfactory grade point average (3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale)
  • Professional recommendations from individuals who have knowledge of the applicant's academic/work performance
  • $25 application fee
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended
  • Statement of Purpose essay

Students not meeting these criteria may be considered on an individual basis for conditional admission.
