Each October the Department of Languages, Literature, and Philosophy sponsors the Eudora Welty Writers' Symposium to honor one of MUW's most famous alumnae. A diverse group of Southern writers and scholars are invited to present their work. One highlight of the symposium is the announcement of the Eudora Welty Prize for an unpublished book of scholarship on Women's Studies, Southern Studies, or Modern Letters. All Symposium events will be held on the MUW campus and are free and open to the public. The Symposium is made possible through the generous support of the Robert M. Hearin Support Foundation.
This year's symposium will be held October 24-26, 2013.
