Faculty Research Committee

Governing Policy: P.S. 3507

Call for Research Proposals

The Faculty Research Committee invites all faculty to submit proposals for research projects to be funded during each academic year.

Award Guidelines

Projects funded by this grant should be focused on faculty research intended for publication and/or utilization according to the methods common within one's academic area. The Faculty Research Committee encourages applications that include MUW student participation together with significant faculty involvement; research equipment or supplies; travel with a substantial research component; and other expenses incurred in the course of faculty research. The committee will not fund applications for:

  • publication fees for books, articles, or other scholarly or professional output;
  • expenses for attendance, presentation, or performance at professional meetings;
  • student work conducted without significant involvement from the faculty member;
  • research with no potential for scholarly or professional publication or utilization;
  • projects intended primarily for pedagogy or student research rather than faculty research;
  • commercial ventures;
  • research, creative activity, or other work to be submitted by the faculty member as part of a degree requirement;
  • or the salary of the faculty member.

Applications will be due on April 15 each year. Awards and amounts will be announced by May 15. Award monies must be spent by June 30 of the following year (giving awardees 13 months to spend the money). Awardees must then submit a final report at the conclusion of the project by September 30, three months following the award deadline.
