Faculty Senate

Message from the Senate President

It is my sincere honor to welcome you to a new academic year and to serve as your Faculty Senate President. As we begin another year of teaching, learning, scholarship, service, and transformation, I am reminded that the strength of MUW has always been found in its people.

Each of us contributes something essential to this institution. Whether we are teaching in the classroom, mentoring students, conducting research, serving our community, supporting our colleagues, or working behind the scenes to keep our University moving forward, what we do matters.

This year, I encourage us to embrace the spirit of collaboration, communication, and shared purpose. Faculty governance is strongest when we listen to one another, respectfully engage in meaningful dialogue, and work together to advance the mission of MUW.

As your Faculty Senate President, my commitment is to help create space for faculty voices to be heard, ideas to be shared, and concerns to be addressed with professionalism and respect. I also hope that this year we will celebrate one another more intentionally—our accomplishments, our creativity, our resilience, and the impact we make on our students and our community.

MUW has a rich history, a distinctive identity, and an exciting future. As we step into this new academic year, let us move forward together with purpose, pride, and optimism.

Welcome back, faculty and staff. Welcome to a new year of possibility at Mississippi University for Women.

Let’s make it a great one—together.

Faculty Senate typically meets the second Friday of the month during the fall and spring semesters. Meetings are open to all faculty.

If you have any questions or comments, or if you would like to submit issues for consideration, please contact your senator or me. I look forward to hearing from you.
