Women’s College, local CEO partner for inaugural Women’s Symposium
The Women’s College at Mississippi University for Women and Amy Bogue, founder and CEO of Allegro Family Clinics, are partnering to host the inaugural Women’s Leadership Symposium, Friday, Sept. 25.
The event will be held from 4-9:30 p.m. at Events Off Fifth, 515 College Street, in Columbus and the attire is cocktail light.
A conversation over coffee between Bogue and Dr. Jill Drouillard, director of the Women’s College, in which the two discussed the importance of women helping each other, spawned the event.
“Through this strategic partnership, we are able to bring this event to fruition and advance the mission of the Women’s College by showcasing women’s excellence and leadership in the past and present,” said Drouillard.
There will be two speakers featured at the symposium.
Dr. Jeanette Jurczyk is the national director of the She Said Project, a women’s storytelling organization and empowerment program, and the producer of the live storytelling series, “That’s What She Said.”
Katina Holliday is a W alumna and founder and CEO of Holliday’s Helping Hands. She is a recognized leader in developing innovative solutions to homelessness in California.
Drouillard mentioned how the symposium was a collaborative effort, with women on campus helping make it come together.
“This Symposium could not have come together without women supporting women,” she added. “Dr. Kim Whitehead, interim provost and executive vice president of Academic Affairs and founding director of the Women’s College, has been incredibly supportive of the initiative and suggested alum Katina Holliday as a speaker. Dr. Chanley Rainey, who was a faculty fellow in the Women’s College, introduced me to Amy Bogue, and Dr. Clear Moore, director of the Student Success Center, put Dr. Jenette Jurczyk on my radar.”
Attendees must purchase tickets, and attendance is limited to 60 seats. A symposium ticket is $125 and features a three-course dinner, an open bar and a DJ. A portion of every ticket purchase helps sponsor the attendance of a Women’s College student.
There are also sponsorships available. For $100, donors can support the Women’s College High-Impact Fund, which provides students with internships, study away and study abroad experiences, conference travel and other high-impact opportunities. Sponsors will be recognized in the event program.
