The Department of Theatre at The W will hold auditions for its spring show in January.

The auditions are open for anyone, including W faculty, staff and students as well as members of the community. Interested performers are asked to prepare a specific monologue for the auditions. Information packets containing the specifics of the audition process and requirements can be picked up in Cromwell Communications Center room 182.

Additionally, there is a sign-up sheet for auditions outside Cromwell 182.

It is recommended that anyone interested in auditioning pick up a packet before The W closes for Christmas break on Friday, Dec. 19.

“This will give them time to perfect their auditions and be amply prepared,” said Kathy Newman, associate professor of theatre at The W.

The dates for the show are April 9, 10 and 11.

The play follows four young women working at the Radium Dial Company, who paint watch dials with radioactive, luminous paint.

“The play follows their lives as they face the devastating effects of radium poisoning and their ultimate fight for workers’ rights and justice against the company that harms them,” reads the description. “The story explores themes of friendship, female empowerment, corporate negligence and resilience.”

Anyone with questions is asked to contact Newman via email at knewman@muw.edu.
