Mississippi University for Women prides itself on the quality education it provides to its students. The latest rankings from Niche.com have The W ranked among the best programs in the country as well as the state of Mississippi for 2024.

Niche utilizes data provided by the United States Department of Education as well as reviews from students for the ranking.

The W was ranked as the best college for nursing in the state, and it was ranked 18th out of 774 nationally. The W received an overall grade of B+ and two of its programs also received recognition.

“I am always excited and honored to hear about rankings for any of our programs. Such rankings recognize what I already know to be true – our faculty, staff and students are phenomenal representations of the future of healthcare in our state, region and globally. I especially appreciate these rankings from Niche; they combine data from the US Dept of Education as well as student feedback on such concepts as value, diversity, etc. They combine statistics with practicality of what is important to students in programs, so knowing we are validated in what we strive so diligently to do every day is rewarding,” said Dr. Brandy Larmon, dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

In addition to the nursing department, the Culinary Arts Institute also was recognized.

The W was ranked 16th out of 140 nationally in best colleges for culinary arts.

This is especially promising with the newly-constructed Culinary Arts Institute recently opening.

“The Culinary Arts Institute has exciting changes happening now with our new culinary teaching facility. The W’s commitment to educating a new generation of food and beverage leaders is as strong as ever, and we are honored to be acknowledged by Niche,” said Dr. Tracee Watkins, director of the institute.
