The W to participate in Cooking for a Cause
Mississippi University for Women’s Dining Services will once again participate in the annual Cooking for a Cause event, to raise awareness of food insecurity in students.

The W has participated in Cooking for a Cause every year since its inception in 2024, and this year, it has been paired with Grambling State University in Louisiana.
The W’s executive chef Julius Burnside will be tasked with cooking a dish using three ingredients commonly found in food pantries. The attendees will try the dishes in a blind taste test, and voting will be done via QR codes.
Grambling State’s chef will visit The W on Thursday, Sept. 10 during lunch for the first round. The following week, Thursday, Sept. 17, Burnside will visit Grambling State, also during lunch hour.
On the day of each event, Sodexo, the dining services provider for The W, will match the dining hall door count with meal vouchers donated to The Owl Pantry. All monetary donations collected will also be used to purchase nonperishable food items for donation to The Owl Pantry.
