Staff members from Mississippi University for Women received top awards in communications and athletic media categories during the 2026 College Public Relations Association of Mississippi Annual Conference.

“Congratulations to everyone involved in telling The W’s story and expanding our brand visibility,” said Anika Perkins, executive director of University Relations. “Tyler and Dave’s creativity and drive reflect the role of University Relations and Athletics in achieving key university goals.”  

The annual CPRAM conference brings together marketing and public relations professionals from Mississippi’s community colleges and universities for professional development, networking and recognition of achievements in communications, advertising, graphic design, social media and media relations.

Director of Athletic Communications Dave Beyer earned first-place awards in the senior division in multiple categories, including sports feature story, sports news story, sports social media accounts and sports social media post.

Communications Director Tyler Wheat received first place in the senior division feature story category for “Knowledge & Heart,” published in the summer 2025 issue of Visions, the university magazine for alumni and friends of The W.

The awards were presented during the annual CPRAM Awards ceremony Tuesday, May 19, at the Haraway Center at Northwest Mississippi Community College.
