Mississippi University for Women was recently named to Money.com’s “America’s Best Colleges” list, securing the top spot for public universities in the state.

“We are proud to receive this recognition from Money.com.  Today’s students look at many factors when deciding where to attend college. Money.com’s ratings consider graduation rates, cost of attendance, financial aid, alumni salaries and more,” said President Nora Miller.

Of Mississippi’s eight public universities, five were featured on the list. Using a star system, The W received four stars out of a possible five stars, the highest among the state’s public universities.

To establish the ranking, Money.com reviewed more than 2,400 four-year public and private nonprofit colleges across the country. A total of 745 colleges across the U.S. were named to Money’s list. The site offers a practical analysis of more than 700 four-year colleges, focusing on affordability and student outcomes. Money.com ranked the university and colleges on 26 factors in the three categories of quality education, affordability and outcomes.

Money.com stated, “While the underlying methodology is similar to previous years, the new rating system can help families with their college search by highlighting the variety (and diversity) of high-value colleges in the U.S. We hope the ratings show that, depending on your individual characteristics, priorities and goals, there may be multiple top colleges to consider.
