Mississippi University for Women has been selected as one of the 2022 Great Colleges to Work For®, with special designation as an Honor Roll institution. The university has been recognized for 10 consecutive years and placed on Honor Roll eight times.

“I’m so pleased that my co-workers feel the same as I do – The W is a great college to work for!  We care about each other, our students, our beautiful campus, our history – and our future,” said W President Nora Miller.

The W received honors in the following categories:

  • Professional Development
  • Mission & Pride
  • Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness
  • Confidence in Senior Leadership
  • Faculty & Staff Well-being
  • Shared Governance
  • Faculty Experience

The results, released today [ Sept. 12] in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education, are based on a survey of 212 colleges and universities. In all, 68 of those institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies. Results are reported for small, medium and large institutions, with The W included among small universities with 500 to 2,999 students.

The results are based on a survey of 130 four-year institutions and 82 two-year institutions. In all, 68 institutions are recognized as a 2022 Great College to Work For, including 46 four-year institutions and 22 two-year institutions. Only 42 institutions are on the Honor Roll, recognized as stand-outs in their size categories.

The university has participated since 2013 and has been recognized every year.

The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire that captured employment data and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.

The Great Colleges to Work For® program is one of the largest and most respected workplace-recognition programs in the country.
