The W celebrates unforgettable Homecoming weekend
Members of The Long Blue Line returned to the campus of Mississippi University for Women for Homecoming 2025, setting new attendance records for the annual event.

“Homecoming 2025 was a true success, thanks to the incredible teamwork across campus. From the Office of Development and Alumni’s tireless dedication to the behind-the-scenes support from police, facilities, grounds and catering, it was a collective effort,” said Cathryn Borer, director of alumni relations and donor engagement. “Highlights like the Women’s College Speed Networking and MSMS’s Tales From the Crypt made it even more memorable. Most of all, thank you to our alumni—your presence is what makes Homecoming truly special.”
More than 500 participants- including alumni, friends and students- visited campus throughout the weekend’s festivities. Twenty-three alumni association past presidents and foundation chairs were among the attendees.
Golden Girls – a designation honoring 50-year graduates – boasted the highest attendance since pre-pandemic years.
Borer said, “Homecoming isn’t just about reminiscing—it’s about reconnecting with the community that shaped who we are. It’s a celebration of shared experiences, lifelong friendships and the community that only The W can offer. Whether you graduated five years ago or 50, you’ll find something meaningful at Homecoming.”
The weekend was filled with a wide range of events, from academic lectures to social gatherings, artistic exhibitions, and athletic celebrations. Highlights of the weekend included the Golden Girls luncheon honoring alumnae from the Class of 1975, an Alumni vs. Students line-dancing competition, the Magnolia Mingle and The W family picnic.
“One common thread I hear from alumni time and time again is how recharged they feel after Homecoming at The W,” Borer added. “It’s more than just a weekend of events—it’s a chance to reconnect, reflect and renew. That sense of energy and belonging is something truly special—and it’s what keeps us all coming back home.”
The W Athletics announced the second-ever group selected for induction into The W Athletics Hall of Fame. The inductees included Lee Cole (student-athlete), Celeste Waguespack (student-athlete), Doug May (administrator), Don Spaulding (distinguished service), Samye Johnson (coach) and The 1986 Volleyball Team (team).
