Spring Commencement set for May 9
Mississippi University for Women will celebrate spring graduates with Commencement ceremonies Friday, May 9 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. in Rent Auditorium, Whitfield Hall, on The W’s campus.

The first ceremony will feature students graduating from the Vandergriff College of Nursing and Health Sciences (associate of nursing, bachelor of nursing, doctorate of nursing) and the College of Arts and Sciences.
The second ceremony will feature graduates of the Vandergriff College of Nursing and Health Sciences kinesiology, public health, speech-language pathology), College of Business and Professional Studies and School of Education.
Tickets will be distributed from 10:30-11:45 a.m. for the first ceremony and from 1:30-2:45 p.m. for the second ceremony, both in Parkinson Hall.
Graduates will each receive five tickets. Doors will open to guests with tickets at noon and 3 p.m. and close at 12:45 and 3:45 respectively. There will be no extra tickets. No one (including infants and children) will be admitted without a ticket. Nissan Auditorium located in Parkinson Hall will be open on campus to view the livestream broadcast.
The conferral ceremonies will be live streamed at muw.edu for family members and loved ones to enjoy at home or on a phone, tablet or computer.
Prior to commencement ceremonies, the annual Magnolia Chain Ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. in Pohl Gymnasium. Students graduating in May, July and December are eligible to participate. Parents and family are invited to attend.
W Alumna Amy Tate (’97) will give the keynote address during the Mag Chain Ceremony. Tate serves as executive for the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Southwest Region and will discuss women’s leadership in energy and economic development policy. She has been honored as a member of Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 10 Business Women and Top 40 Under 40, as Mud & Magnolia Magazine’s Influential Woman of North Mississippi and as one of Y’all Politics’ Top 50 Most Influential People in Mississippi.
Graduates are encouraged to share their celebratory photos by using #LongBlueLine. Photos and videos also may be submitted to socialmedia@muw.edu.
