Mississippi University for Women’s Department of Theatre invites students, staff, faculty and community members to audition for “Still Life with Iris” by Steven Dietz.

Described as a fantastical magical adventure centered on a young girl’s search for home, auditions will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, in the Cromwell Black Box Theatre at 620 10th Street South. Callbacks will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2. The production dates are set for Friday, April 14, and Saturday, April 15.

“The W Theatre’s spring show is a fun, family-friendly show, with an incredible heart-warming message,” said Kathy Newman, assistant professor of theatre. “Step into the lives of magical characters in the land of Nocturno — a fantastical place where the workers make, by night, what we see in the world by day. Where memories do not reside in people’s minds but in their ‘Past-Coats’.”

If you would like to secure an audition time, contact Newman at knewman1@muw.edu. Participants are asked to prepare a one-minute monologue from a contemporary play.

The W’s Department of Theatre provides academic and professional foundations essential for success in the theatre industry. In a diverse, liberal arts-based training, the department balances between creativity, analysis and the awareness of theatre’s importance to society.
