Dr. Ethan Flurry earned his Ph.D. in Applied Cognitive Science at Mississippi State University. His research focuses on examining cognitive systems such as memory and metacognition, which is what you know about your own thinking. Dr. Flurry is primarily interested in how these systems are affected by processes such as cognitive aging and emotion. This program of research is aimed at answering theoretical questions about how these cognitive systems operate and relate to one another. Theoretical discoveries in these topics will inform applied research towards how to utilize metacognition and emotional salience effects to improve content learning in students and improve everyday memory outcomes in older adults.
