Colleges use Accuplacer to assess your skill levels in reading, writing, and math to determine if you’re ready to take courses that will earn you credits at that school. If you show proficiency in a subject, you won’t have to take developmental courses and can start earning credits right away that count toward a degree or certificate. You may take the test more than once, but you must wait 30 days to be tested again. There will be a $30 charge ($10 per section) for the second and subsequent test attempts.
The Accuplacer is an untimed test of math, reading, and writing skills required to help determine your admission status into The W or placement in courses that may require a minimum ACT score. It is NOT used to determine eligibility for scholarships..
If you have received instructions from the Admissions Office that you must take the Accuplacer, you may schedule a test date. Students who do not have ACT scores, or may have ACT scores lower than what is required for certain classes, may take the Accuplacer to help determine placement in the most supportive course.
Accuplacer is made by The College Board. They offer a free online study guide.
