The Mississippi University for Women’s ninth annual Music by Women Festival will be held in the historic Poindexter Hall on the campus of the Mississippi University for Women. The festival will include papers, presentations, lecture recitals, and performances all relating to the subject of music composed, taught and performed by women. The festival will feature concerts of new and historic music written by women composers historically as well as in the present day. Johnathan Lollar is a piano performance student under the instruction of Dr. Valentin Bogdan. Before he came to the W, he attended Bevill State Community College, where he studied music under Dr. John Stallsmith and piano under Becki Stallsmith. He would like to thank the faculty of the W music department for their guidance, the members and alumni of Beta Kappa Tau for their continued support in all of his endeavors, and his family and friends, who pushed him to begin this journey.
