School of Education COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Information

For all Education students, undergraduate and graduate: The faculty are making adjustments now to courses and are putting processes in place to help support you through the remainder of the semester completely through remote, online or other alternative instructional means. All processes, including coursework and advising, will be available to you in ways that support you while you and faculty are working virtually. Look for additional notification concerning course adjustments, changes in advising, and other important processes over the following days.

Master of Education

 

Building upon The W’s rich tradition of preparing teacher candidates for the profession, the Graduate Programs in Education offer 100% online degree, blended delivery, or certificate options for career teachers to expand and improve their expertise in the field.

The W's Masters of Education program includes concentrations in Educational Leadership, Gifted Education, and Reading Literacy. The M.Ed. is a 33 credit hour program broken into 18 hours of Required Core and 15 hours of Concentration Study.

Educational Leadership Emphasis

Learn to inspire a shared vision and supervise instruction, organize a supportive learning environment, and be an ethical decision-making leader.

Gifted Education Emphasis

Learn to recognize and address the unique needs of gifted students, as well as how to differentiate curriculum, instruction, and assessment to meet the unique needs of gifted students.

Reading Literacy Emphasis

Learn to assess literacy needs, implement instructional interventions, develop literacy growth, and provide professional development.
