Ellen Ann Fentress makes her debut at the symposium with her first essay collection, The Steps We Take: A Memoir of Southern Reckoning. She teaches Creative Nonfiction in The W’s low-res MFA program and is a long-time Jackson, Mississippi resident. She produced the documentary Eyes on Mississippi and launched The Academy Stories, a website chronicling segregation academies.
