Annette Saunooke Clapsaddle is a teacher at Swain County High School in North Carolina. She is an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and has served as executive director of the Cherokee Preservation Foundation and co-editor of the Journal of Cherokee Studies. Her debut novel Even As We Breathe was a finalist for the Weatherford Award and was named one of NPR’s Best Books for 2020.
