Jocelyn Nicole Johnson is a native of Virginia, which provides the settings for the stories and novella in her collection, My Monticello, which The New York Times dubbed a “startling and powerful debut.” When not writing fiction, Johnson works as a public school art teacher in Charlottesville, Virginia. Her stories have appeared in Guernica, The Guardian, Kweli Journal, and The Best American Short Stories.
