Amelia Franz was born in Grenada, Mississippi, and grew up in Biloxi and nearby Guatier. Her debut collection of stories, The Longest Man-Made Beach in the World draws on this intimate knowledge of the Biloxi area to explore the lives of working-class characters behind the scenes of the beach resorts, hotels, and casinos. She currently lives in Baltimore, Maryland.
