Jordan LaHaye Fontenot was born and raised in the Acadiana region of South Louisiana, the setting of her debut true crime memoir investigating the death of her great-grandfather, Home of the Happy: A Murder on the Cajun Prairie. She is Managing Editor for Country Roads magazine, for which she has written numerous essays. Her work has also appeared in the Oxford American and Atlas Obscura. She is the recipient of the 2018 Sarah Sue Goldsmith Award for Nonfiction.
