The W was founded on the idea that a university education is for everyone. Today, the mission is the same. The university is nationally recognized for low student debt, top value, diversity, and social mobility. National rankings, small class sizes, and unique programs create a university that empowers you to be bold, follow your dreams, and a make a difference in your community. But most important to us, our students say, “It feels like home.” You don't have to take our word for it, see for yourself. Request more information or visit us on our beautiful campus.
In the spirit of progress, and with the encouragement of the Deans Council, President Miller has appointed a task force to take a deeper dive into the issue of the university's name and see if now is the time to recommend a more inclusive name. This task force is chaired by the Dean of Library Services, Amanda Clay Powers, and former Provost Tom Richardson. The task force includes our deans, Provost, Executive Director of University Relations, Executive Director of Alumni and Development, General Counsel, and representatives of our Faculty Senate, Staff Council, Student Government Association, Alumni Association, and the Foundation Board.
