The Faculty Undergraduate Research Mentor (FURM) Institute, co-sponsored by the OUR and the KCTL, is a professional development opportunity for faculty to enhance their undergraduate research mentoring toolkit. Participants receive a $500 stipend and access to Teaching and Learning funds to develop course materials.
The Institute will focus on developing a Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) for existing courses, and will focus on broadening access to research for all students in its design.
To apply:
- Applicants must be teaching an existing course on the following Academic Year’s course catalog
- Fill out the online application, requiring a 1-page statement that:
- describes the research project you’re proposing and how it will fit in your existing course load
- describes how this proposal will support students from underrepresented backgrounds
The 2025 FURM Institute will be May 13-16. Follow-up meetings will be scheduled for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. Applications will be due April 4th.
