ASN Generic Option Admission Requirements

Prerequisite courses must be completed as follows:

Human Anatomy & Physiology I Minimum Grade = C
Human Anatomy & Physiology II Minimum Grade = C

MUW GPA and overall GPA on all work attempted must be ≥ 2.5. Official transcripts from all colleges attended, including The W, must be mailed to the ASN Program office along with the completed Application for Admission to the ASN Program.

An official document showing national ACT score must be submitted with the application. A score on a transcript, or a score sheet (or copy) from national ACT will be acceptable.

a. Students must have an ACT composite score of 18 if taken in or after October 1989, or 15 if taken before October 1989.

THE ASN APPLICATION, ALONG WITH OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS AND ACT VERIFICATION, MUST BE IN THE ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE IN NURSING PROGRAM CHAIR'S OFFICE BY THE 5:00 PM JUNE 1ST DEADLINE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR ADMISSION. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE APPLICANT TO INSURE THAT ALL REQUIRED MATERIALS ARE RECEIVED BY THE ASN PROGRAM.

ALL OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS, ACT DOCUMENTATION AND ASN APPLICATION MUST BE MAILED TOGETHER IN A LARGE BROWN ENVELOPE TO:

Admission Procedure

  1. After the deadline, composite admission scores will be computed based on overall GPA and ACT score. Each requirement will count 1/2 of the total composite admission score. Applicants will be notified of their admission status prior to July 1.

  2. Students having at least a 22 ACT score, a 3.25 GPA, and a "C" or above in Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II and College Algebra may be considered for early selection. In order to be considered the candidate must submit a completed application to the ASN Program office to include all official transcripts verifying the GPA, the Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II and College Algebra grades, and a copy of an ACT score of at least 22 in a large brown envelope by the 5:00 pm, January 20th deadline as noted on the admission application packet. Notification of early selection is typically by the first week of February. All transcripts, ACT verification and ASN application must be sent directly to the ASN Program. It is the student's responsibility to confirm that all documents have been received by the deadline.

  3. If the applicant has ever been enrolled in a Registered Nurse program, a letter from that nursing school must be submitted stating that the student is eligible for readmission into that nursing program. If an applicant has failed the same nursing course twice, or failed two different nursing courses, the student is ineligible for admission into the ASN program.
