Every year, talented students across Mississippi miss the opportunity to apply to Mississippi Governor’s School simply because they never hear about it.
We know gifted, creative, and motivated students live in every county and every school district. Yet each year, we receive few or no applications from some areas of the state. We need your help finding Mississippi’s hidden talent.
Talk About MGS
The most effective recruitment tool we have is a personal recommendation.
Talk about MGS with students. Share your experience. Tell them why the program matters. Encourage them to consider opportunities they may not have thought were possible.
Many future scholars never apply because they assume they are not smart enough, accomplished enough, or qualified enough. Often, all it takes is a teacher, counselor, parent, alumnus, or community member saying, “I think you should apply.”
