A portrait is generally defined as an intended likeness of a specific person.  Traditionally, this has meant the physical resemblance of the individual. In this exhibition, we explore a variety of approaches to portraiture, from the traditional to the symbolic, in artwork from our permanent collection.

The Mississippi University for Women Galleries, located on the first floor of Summer Hall, are open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., following the university calendar. The Galleries and the gallery talks are free and open to the public.
