Selections from the Permanent Collection

Through Feb. 5
Gallery talk: Feb. 3, 12:30 PM
Selections from the Permanent Collection demonstrates the breadth of our permanent art collection with a wide range of artworks from WPA prints to Japanese ukiyo-e prints, scientific illustrations to folk art, experimental printmaking to analog photography plus so much more.
Started in 1948 by then department chair Dr. Ralph Hudson, the collection was intended strictly as a resource for students in the department of art. In 1951, the collection was merged with university holdings of American art and an allocation of WPA prints to become the university permanent art collection. The collection has continued to grow through thoughtful purchases by gallery directors and donations by generous individuals and art foundations.
