WPA prints from the permanent collection

November 17 – December 12
From 1936 to 1943, President Roosevelt established a number of New Deal programs designed to put Americans back to work during the Great Depression. One of these programs, the Works Progress Administration (WPA) sponsored the Federal Art Project that employed thousands of artists, many of whom produced fine art prints. At the close of this program, the agency allocated prints to public institutions, including The W. A small collection of these prints, including some we have never exhibited before, will be on display.
