Help us celebrate the 10th anniversary of our Day of the Dead installation!
In 2015, Dr. Beverly Joyce, art historian and director of The W Galleries, invited Ms. Erinn Holloway, instructor of Spanish and coordinator of study abroad programs, and Dr. Jo Shumake, formerly of the US Department of State and stationed in Mexico, to pool resources for an installation honoring this important Mexican holiday.
Over the years, the ofrenda, or altar, collaboration has become a much-anticipated and colorful display for The W Galleries. A gallery talk about the history, art, and purpose of Día de los Muertos ofrendas will be given by students in Ms. Holloway’s upper-level Spanish class.
