Study Abroad Crisis Management Plan – Ireland 2023

Having a crisis management plan while abroad is essential to safeguarding all participants enrolled in study abroad programs.  In all likelihood you will have a crisis free experience but in case an emergency situation should arise, we would like for all participants to have a plan to address such issues.

In order to help anyone who may have to provide assistance to you in the event of an emergency, please keep with you at all times the following items:

  • Copy of your passport
  • Copy of your insurance card
  • A list of any medications you are currently taking and allergies with a short description of your reaction
  • You will also need a list of contacts to whom you should report an emergency (You will have this information available on a small card to carry with you at all times):

Emergency Contacts:
In case of emergency while traveling in Ireland:

  1. Local Emergency Number:  999
  2. U.S. Consulate in Ireland:  353 1 668 8777
  3. Faculty Program Director Dr. Brian Anderson: TBD on arrival in Ireland
  4. Faculty Program Director Dr. Beverly Joyce:  TBD on arrival in Ireland
  5. Honors Program Director Dr. Kim Whitehead:  001 662 352 6122
  6. Study Abroad Coordinator Erinn Holloway:  001 662 418 7895
  7. MUW Provost Dr. Scott Tollison:  001 662 574 9636
  8. MUW Police Department:  001 662 241 7777

When reporting an emergency, give brief facts and stay on the line, if requested.  After notifying local law enforcement and/or the U.S. Consulate, alert those in your immediate area, including your faculty program directors.  In the event you are unable to get in touch with anyone in your program in Ireland, contact MUW Honors Program Director, Provost and/or MUW Police.
