Minrose Gwin returns with her novel\u00a0Promise<\/em>, which Booklist<\/em>\u00a0cites as \u201ca gripping tale of racism, power, and the bonds that make a family [that] explores how one can rebuild after tragedy strikes.\u201d Set in Tupelo at the time of the 1936 F5 tornado that killed over 200 white residents and an unrecorded number of African Americans, Promise<\/em> chronicles the intertwined lives of two families, one black and one white, in the aftermath of the storm.\u00a0Gwin has also published the novel The Queen of Palmyra, <\/em>along with the memoir\u00a0Wishing for Snow\u00a0<\/em>and the literary study\u00a0Remembering Medgar Evers: Writing the Long Civil Rights Movement. <\/em>She is also co-editor of\u00a0The Literature of the American South<\/em> and\u00a0The Southern Literary Journal.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
