These poems present a meditation on the criminal justice system and on the ways poetry brought Horton out of it. His previous books include poetry collections <em>Pitch Dark Anarchy<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>The Definition of Place<\/em>, and&nbsp;<em>The Lingua Franca of Ninth Street,&nbsp;<\/em>as well as&nbsp;the memoir&nbsp;<em>Hook. <\/em>He teaches English and Creative Writing at the University of New Haven and&nbsp;sits on the Advisory Board of Pen America\u2019s Pen Prison Writing Program.
