Fall at The W brings with it a new academic year, new students and new opportunities for learning and growth for all of us involved with the university.

Excitement is certainly evident in the air! It is an honor to serve as chairman of the MUW Foundation Board of Directors and be part of the Board’s work in support of the university to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends.

This year, we were pleased to welcome John Feinstein, author of 36 books, including the two best-selling sports books of all time, “A Season on the Brink” and “A Good Walk Spoiled,” both New York Times bestsellers. His recent nonfiction book, “Where Nobody Knows Your Name,” was his 23rd New York Times bestseller, and his 36th book, “The Legends Club,” chronicles the rivalries and relationships among Mike Krzyzewski, Dean Smith and Jim Valvano.

This important occasion each year provides outstanding support for the MUW Scholarship Fund and our students. It is always a pleasure to see a big crowd and to enjoy world-class authors such as Mr. Feinstein. This year’s Gala was a big hit, and if you couldn’t join us, I hope you’ll plan to attend the 2020 event. These special evenings seem to get better each year!

The Welty Gala is only one of the many opportunities we have to give back to a university that continues to give so much to us and so many others. Whether you support The W Fund, a scholarship fund, an academic area, the athletic program, or other funds supplying valuable resources for the campus, you make a direct impact on personalized learning experiences that prepare students for their careers both professionally and personally. Giving to the MUW Foundation allows each of us to make the W experience possible.

Please join me in making (or continuing) an investment in The W’s bright future by giving to the MUW Foundation this fiscal year. We deeply appreciate your support in making The W the extraordinary place it is.
