The fall semester is almost over. The students are wrapping up their classes, athletics is in full swing and MUW has a new President.
I hope that you all will join me in welcoming Nora Roberts Miller as our 15th and very first alumni president at The W. What an honor it was for me to be among the first to congratulate and welcome her to this new role. President Miller’s three transition priorities will allow us to continue the positive momentum the university has been experiencing while looking to strengthen the future of our alma mater. Being an alumna of The W means that President Miller will support our Association and the goals that we have established with our strategic plan.
The MUW Alumni Association has been very busy since my last letter. This summer the Board of Directors held a work session to drill down into our strategic plan and set a path for the association moving forward. I am happy to report that many of the activities we are already doing fit nicely into the plan. The Board also brainstormed new ideas that we hope to implement in the coming months and years.
We were also delighted to award our scholarships to three deserving students. You can read more about the recipients in this edition of Visions. My hope is that we, as alumni, will have a small impact on these students as they further their education at The W by selecting these students to receive these scholarships.
In August, we were happy to welcome the August graduates to the Long Blue Line with a reception after graduation. We also were honored to welcome the new faculty members to The W and share with them a little bit about the Alumni Association.
By the time this letter reaches you, we will be getting ready to celebrate the holidays with friends and loved ones. I want to encourage you to also get ready to celebrate our alma mater (and new President) during Homecoming in March! Mark your calendars to join us on campus, March 28 – 31, 2019. Come home to campus and celebrate with friends and loved ones.
