I was born and raised in Connecticut, where I spent the first 20-plus years of my life. I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in journalism. I worked at a weekly newspaper, The Cheshire Herald, the day after I graduated. I then went to umpire school to see if professional baseball was for me. When I discovered It wasn’t, I returned to the newspaper business and worked at newspapers in Middletown, Connecticut, and Norwich, Connecticut.
Journalism led me to job at the Athens Banner-Herald in Athens, Georgia, and to The Daily Commercial in Leesburg, Florida, before my family and I moved to Columbus, Miss., where I served as sports editor of The Commercial Dispatch for the last 10-plus years.
I enjoyed covering youth, high school, college, and professional athletics for 26-plus years, but I felt the timing was right for a chance. I was fortunate to get an opportunity to work at The W as a communications specialist. Even though it is a small campus, there are a lot of stories to tell, so don’t be afraid to reach out to me with your suggestions/ideas.
