{"id":232,"date":"2022-05-05T14:36:46","date_gmt":"2022-05-05T14:36:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/web01.muw.edu\/registrar\/?page_id=232"},"modified":"2022-05-25T16:02:02","modified_gmt":"2022-05-25T16:02:02","slug":"commencement","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.muw.edu\/registrar\/students\/degrees\/commencement\/","title":{"rendered":"Commencement Information"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Mississippi University for Women\u2019s Spring Commencement exercises will be held on May 6 and 7, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Degrees will be conferred in Rent Auditorium in Whitfield Hall on The W&#8217;s campus.Key Reminders<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>There will be no commencement rehearsal.<\/strong><\/li><li>Each graduate will <strong>receive six tickets.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li><li>There will be <strong>no extra tickets,&nbsp;<\/strong>no general admission seating, and <strong>no one (including infants and children) will be admitted without a ticket. The Nissan Auditorium located in Parkinson Hall will be open on campus to view live stream broadcast.<\/strong><\/li><li>The only regalia that students will be permitted to wear at Commencement is the regalia (caps, gowns, hoods) issued from the MUW bookstore and honor cords issued by the Registrar&#8217;s Office. Students are not allowed to wear other cords, pins, medallions, sashes, etc. of sororities, fraternities, etc. Students are not allowed to decorate their mortar board (cap) in any way.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>As of right now, masks are encouraged but not required.&nbsp; This is subject to change.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Special Events\/Announcements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Caps\/Gowns\/Honor Cords<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The only regalia that students will be permitted to wear at Commencement is the regalia (caps, gowns, hoods) issued from Barnes &amp; Noble and honor cords issued by the Registrar&#8217;s Office. You are not allowed to wear other cords, pins, medallions, sashes, etc. of sororities, fraternities, etc. You are not allowed to decorate your mortar board (cap) in any way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gold honor cords, for first bachelor degree students whose current cumulative and MUW grade point averages are 3.50 and above, will be distributed on the day of commencement at the ticket pickup location. Blue honor cords will be distributed to students with Departmental Honors. Honors read for commencement are based on current GPAs (at the conclusion of the fall semester). However, honors printed on diplomas and transcripts will be based on final calculations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/registrar\/students\/degrees\/regalia\" class=\"button button-outline\">Regalia Information<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Diplomas<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Diplomas for degrees awarded will be mailed once all degrees have been conferred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Graduation Reminders<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transfer Credit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The deadline for submission of transfer work to the Office of the Registrar is May 27, 2022. Please notify faculty involved from other campuses of this deadline and request their assistance.&nbsp; If an official transcript will not be available by this date, please notify the MUW Registrar&#8217;s Office no later than May 27, 2022. Please note that transfer credit will be added to your MUW record and your degree will be posted <strong>only<\/strong> upon receipt of an official transcript. You will not graduate if official transcripts of grades are not received, and you must reapply for your degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">University Accounts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The deadline for candidates to clear University accounts is 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday prior to Commencement. Offices included are University Accounting (Comptroller), Housing, Health Center, Library, Registrar, Student Affairs and Campus Police.
