{"id":47,"date":"2023-12-14T11:36:40","date_gmt":"2023-12-14T17:36:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.muw.edu\/our\/?page_id=47"},"modified":"2026-02-18T13:30:38","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T19:30:38","slug":"apply","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.muw.edu\/our\/summer\/apply\/","title":{"rendered":"Apply to be a Summer Scholar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Deadline to apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications to participate in Summer Scholars will be accepted on an ongoing basis each year until <strong>April 1st<\/strong> for the following summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Materials<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Each application should be sent (with materials as .doc or .pdf attachments) via email to <strong><a href=\"mailto:our@muw.edu\">our@muw.edu<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0by the April 1st deadline. Applications should include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A brief letter from a faculty mentor, stating:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They have discussed this opportunity with the student,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They are willing to serve as a mentor,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And this is either a 5-week research project or a 10-week research project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A one-page proposal of the project&#8217;s intended goals for the duration of the summer program.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Include a description of the project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>List what you hope to accomplish in 5 or 10 weeks (e.g. a literature review, survey design, lab work, an annotated bibliography, draft of a creative work, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>All materials are necessary for consideration.
