Funding opportunities for faculty supporting undergraduate research can be found in under <strong><a href=\"\/our\/resources\">Faculty Resources<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Federal Work Study &#8211; OUR<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who are eligible for Federal Work Study can apply to work with a faculty research mentor and get paid to research for up to 20 hours per week, earning valuable work experience for future opportunities. Faculty mentors vary with availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Faculty mentors apply with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/muwedu.wufoo.com\/forms\/qf672hx022bnz8\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this form<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students eligible submit a <a href=\"\/finaid\/options\/workstudy\"><strong>FWS application<\/strong><\/a> through the Office of Financial Aid. New applications are accepted in the spring of each year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1Kva37VkrFcurWTsMiHRkfaOycXBL2NKf\/view?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FWS-OUR program<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Long Blue Line Undergraduate Research Grant<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to the commitments of the <a href=\"https:\/\/longblueline.muw.edu\/alumni\/alumni-association\">MUW Alumni Association<\/a> to support undergraduate research experiences, the OUR can offer up to $500 of funding per semester for students conducting or proposing to conduct research. Information on who is eligible and how to apply is below. Names of recipients will be provided to MUWAA for recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Who is eligible<\/strong>: full-time enrolled students who are proposing a research project or have one in-progress<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How much: <\/strong>Up to $500 in each semester, or more if funds are available<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadlines:<\/strong> rolling, no less than one month prior to disbursement of funds<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Review Process<\/strong>: Submissions will be reviewed and voted upon by the Undergraduate Research Advisory Committee on a monthly basis. Committee meetings typically occur on the last Friday of the month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Examples of what can be funded<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Equipment for research (books, lab equipment, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travel, lodging to conduct or present research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conference registration fees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Incentives for survey research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2026and more (Not sure if what you need counts? Email <strong><a href=\"mailto:our@muw.edu\">our@muw.edu<\/a><\/strong>.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To Apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will submit an application via email to <strong><a href=\"mailto:our@muw.edu\">our@muw.edu<\/a><\/strong>. You will need:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Name, class, and major<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>300-500 word statement on the research project that requires funding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Faculty advisor name and email<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1-page letter of support from faculty advisor for the project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An itemized budget for the request (See example below)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sample Budget:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Item&nbsp;<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Description&nbsp;<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Cost<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Totals<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&nbsp;ABC Textbook&nbsp;<\/td><td>Contains background information and methodologies for project&nbsp;<\/td><td>$99.00&nbsp;<\/td><td>$99.00<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&nbsp;Culture Sample&nbsp;<\/td><td>Cell line for experimentation described in statement&nbsp;<\/td><td>&nbsp;$250.00\/vial&nbsp;<\/td><td>$250.00&nbsp;<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Petri dishes&nbsp;<\/td><td>For growing the tissue cultures<\/td><td>$7.95 for a package of 5&nbsp;<\/td><td>$7.95<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&nbsp;Grand total<\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><strong>$356.95<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Travel Funding<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Students <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">presenting<\/span> at a conference or traveling to a research site may apply for funding for up to $500. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Travel funding may include registration fees, travel, lodging, or other travel-related expenses. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students (or faculty mentors, if accompanying the student) must complete a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muw.edu\/accounting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2025\/01\/Travel-Authorization-2025.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.muw.edu\/accounting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2025\/01\/Travel-Authorization-2025.pdf\"><strong>travel authorization form<\/strong><\/a>, listing expenses for reimbursement, and must be approved by the Coordinator of Undergraduate Research. All travel must comply with state policies and procedures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reimbursement will be disbursed after all receipts and documentation have been received. Cash advances may be requested up to 20 days prior to travel date. See <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.muw.edu\/accounting\/travel\/\">Travel Policies and Procedures<\/a> <\/strong>for more information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Funds will be disbursed on a first-come, first-serve basis as funds are available<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Funding Sources<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Peyton Internship Scholarship<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Scholarship available to History majors who have been accepted into a history-related internship program which will be undertaken for academic credit. These scholarships are intended to help defray the costs of travel, living expenses, and\/or tuition related to the internship that would not otherwise be incurred by students during their regular attendance at the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"\/peyton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Peyton Internship Scholarship<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nancy Yates Fellowships<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently-enrolled MUW students interested in participating in community engagement, Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs), or pre-professional internships can apply for a Nancy Yates fellowship. For a list of optional REUs and internships, see <strong><a href=\"\/our\/opportunities\/internships\">OUR Internship Opportunities<\/a><\/strong>. Fellowships are available to honors <strong>and<\/strong> non-honors students. Applications will be open for submission in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Community Engagement Program application deadlines are March 8.
