Nursing Students

COUMBUS, Miss.-- NursingProcess.org recently recognized Mississippi University for Women for having three of the state’s best nursing programs.

The W’s Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), BSN and Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) programs all were ranked No. 1 in the state of Mississippi for 2022.

“The No. 1 ranking for all three undergraduate nursing programs is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the faculty, staff and students,” said Dr. Tammie McCoy, dean and professor of nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. “Since nursing began at The W in 1971, the focus has been on providing high quality academic and clinical preparation for our students. We are pleased that others recognize our long-term commitment to improving patient and student outcomes.”

NursingProcess.org gathered a list of all nursing schools offering RN to BSN programs in every state and then ranked the best based equally on: academic quality, affordability, reputation of the school and NursingProcess.org editorial staff ratings.

In ranking the BSN and ADN programs, NursingProcess.org analyzed the average NCLEX-RN first-time pass rates of recent five years (40%), academic quality (enrollment rate, graduation rate and retention rate, 30%) and NursingProcess.org editorial staff and nursing school reputation (30%).

McCoy said The W has continuously provided the necessary tools to promote and encourage student success and the school’s facilities feature state-of-the-art simulation and practice labs that allow faculty to enhance and supplement classroom instruction in a safe environment. She said The W has established a tradition of excellence thanks to the advising and retention initiatives of its faculty that support student success and graduation at all levels.

Nursing Students“Being the top RN to BSN curriculum in the south, by joining Mississippi University for Women you can enjoy a wide range of employment opportunities,” McCoy said. “The college offers a total-distance-format where you can complete your entire theoretical coursework online, and a partial-distance-format that utilizes a blend of online and classroom teaching methods.”
