COLUMBUS, Miss.-- The Office of University Relations at Mississippi University for Women received four awards, including two first place honors, at the annual College Public Relations Association of Mississippi awards competition.

Staff members competed in the senior division, which includes all of the state's public and private four-year colleges and universities. The awards were announced Monday, May 17 during the 2021 CPRAM Virtual Annual Conference.

Erik Studdard, W alumnus and graphic artist; Chris Jenkins, university photographer; and Tyler Wheat, communications director, were awarded first place for the viewbook, “The Blue For You.” Wheat also garnered first place in the Television News story category for “W students give a voice to coronavirus patients.”

The office collectively earned second place in the Institutional Magazine category for “Visions.” Studdard also received a second-place award in Single Piece of Artwork-Non-Sports category for the “Black History Month” poster submission.

The UR team also includes Adam Minichino, communications specialist; Anika Mitchell Perkins, executive director; and Rich Sobolewski, director of web communications. 

The university magazine, Visions, which is produced in-house by the UR team and distributed to about 26,000 alumni and friends of the university, won second place in the institutional magazine category. Visions is published in the spring, summer and fall. The magazine is also available online at https://www.muw.edu/visions.
