COLUMBUS, Miss.-- “Object.ive Subject.ive a capstone exhibition featuring the work of Mississippi University for Women graduating art majors will be on display at the Mississippi University for Women Galleries March 22 to April 24.

The show encompasses both traditional and digital media work of Kelsey Cockrell, Audrea Powell, London Roberts and Sarah Upchurch.

Cockrell, graphic designer from Vicksburg, will display prints that focus on her graphic design skills combined with other disciplines, such as illustration and photography, for unique and visually interesting designs.

Powell, a studio artist from Starkville, will show collaged portraits. Using female subjects, her portraits express the beauty of hair through color, while others are presented as playful illustrations.

Roberts, a Columbus native, is a graphic designer minoring in printmaking. Going into a commercial field, she aims for her design work to be versatile. Her printmaking works implement a collage style that suggests controlled chaos.

Another studio artist, Upchurch from Atlanta, Texas, will show a variety of mixed-media painting and relief prints. Her works are focused around color theory while using the figure as a means to explore those ideas. A secondary focus in her work is the interaction between individual parts of a figure.
