COLUMBUS, Miss.-- Mississippi for Women Campus Recreation will continue its phased re-opening Monday with the return of its RecFitness and Bootcamp classes.
The schedule, which is available at https://www.muw.edu/recreation/fitness/recfitness, features Yoga, Barre, Cycle, POUND and Circuit Training classes offered Monday through Thursday.
Melissa Parsons, associate director, business, student & member services, said Campus Recreation has been pleased with the response to the re-opening of the Stark Recreation Center. The return of the RecFitness and the Bootcamp classes will provide more opportunities for students, staff and members of the community to build healthy habits.
“Our initial phases have proven successful in attendance and in our commitment to following the new health guidelines,” Parsons said. “We’ll continue these efforts with our classes as well.”
The RecFitness classes will be held at 12:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. There will be a 10-participant limit and members must sign up with a provided link. Links are provided to student/staff/faculty and confirmed community members only. Participants are asked to bring their own mats.
The Bootcamp packages are available for purchase. The classes will meet Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and will run from Oct. 12 to Nov. 12, 2020, and Nov. 16 to Dec. 17, 2020. The five-week packages are $30 for members and $50 for non-members.
Parsons praised the efforts of the Campus Recreation staff for working to ensure a healthy and safe environment for individuals who have been working out at the Stark Recreation Center. She looks forward to welcoming back familiar faces and to seeing new faces taking part in the RecFitness and the Bootcamp classes.
“Group fitness opportunities are an integral part of what we offer here,” Parsons said. “For many, they offer a sense of community, camaraderie and accountability for the participant and the instructor. We are excited to launch our new schedule and to move forward to even more opportunities in the future.”
