To exercise caution, well-being and the prevention of the potential spreading of the Coronavirus, until further notice, all classes will be taught online and via other alternative instructional methods.

COLUMBUS, Miss. – Mississippi University for Women’s holiday season titled Winter Fest at The W officially kicks off Monday, Dec. 2 followed by a series of events.

“The holidays are a special time of the year. As the fall semester draws to a close, we are able to enjoy the magic of the holiday spirit. We study for light to bless with light – and our campus is blessed with the light of the season,”said President Nora Miller

Students, faculty, staff and the community are invited to The W’s holiday celebration, which will include a host of activities for guests to attend. Festivities on campus will begin with the lighting of campus Monday, Dec. 2. Guests are invited to drive or walk through historic campus and enjoy lights, wreaths and decorated trees to get into the holiday spirit.

“A Holiday Extravaganza” is a joint production of the The W’s departments of music and theatre. It will include musical numbers, readings and staged scenes depicting not just Christmas, but other winter holidays and celebrations. The dates are Dec. 6-7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Cromwell Black Box Theater.

The Department of Music will present a Holiday Concert Thursday, Dec. 5. The concert will feature the Chorale and Chamber Singers in the Connie Sills Kossen Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.

W culinary students will serve spiced apple cider wassail and sugar cookies from the Project CHEW food truck at the annual Wassail Fest scheduled Friday, Dec. 6, 5-8 p.m., downtown Columbus.

The major events will wrap up Dec. 7. Lights on campus will be up until January for guests to enjoy.
