SUMMARY:Invest Like a (Girl)Boss: A Financial Literacy Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Want to learn how to make your money go further? The first step is to ensure that you’re not spending everything you earn and that you’re earning as much as you should. In these back-to-back workshops\, a representative from Regions Bank will first review personal budgeting before The W’s own Ali Glasgow covers salary negotiation. This event is the first in a two-part series on financial literacy co-sponsored by the Women’s College and the Career Services and Professional Development Center.

SUMMARY:The American Revolution: Short Showing & Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library for a preview and panel discussion of The American Revolution\, a new six-part\, 12-hour documentary series that explores the country’s founding struggle and its eight-year War for Independence. Drs. Jon Hooks (Mississippi University for Women) and Judith Ridner (Mississippi State University) will draw on their expertise to set the stage\, and Mississippi Public Broadcasting will screen a summary version of the film. The full film series will premiere on Sunday\, November 16 and air for six consecutive nights through Friday\, November 21st. The much anticipated series\, which has been in production for eight years\, was directed and produced by Ken Burns\, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt and written by long-time collaborator Geoffrey C. Ward. The filmmakers and PBS scheduled the broadcast for 2025\, the 250th anniversary of the start of the war\, which began in the spring of 1775\, more than a year before the Declaration of Independence.
