{"id":69,"date":"2023-01-17T14:26:27","date_gmt":"2023-01-17T20:26:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.muw.edu\/hpg\/?page_id=69"},"modified":"2023-01-25T16:14:36","modified_gmt":"2023-01-25T22:14:36","slug":"research","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.muw.edu\/hpg\/opportunities\/research\/","title":{"rendered":"Undergraduate Research"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Our curriculum encourages meaningful work&nbsp;by students.&nbsp; HPG students get the opportunity to do work that is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\" start=\"1\">\n<li>Meaningful personally, because they get the opportunity to select the question or problem they want to research.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meaningful to the discipline(s) because what they are doing pushes the limits of what is known.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meaningful to the public because it is a question or issue of significance.&nbsp; When students conduct meaningful research, they forward the discipline and connect to &#8220;real world&#8221; problems and issues.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some recent undergraduate student research projects from our majors in\u00a0<a href=\"#history\">history<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"#political\">political science<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"#interdisc\">interdisciplinary studies<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"history\">History Capstone<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Josh Herrick, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/jmherrick.wixsite.com\/griefanditsimpact\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Is Death the End?
