Critical Needs Dyslexia Therapy Forgivable Loan

Critical Needs Dyslexia Therapy Teacher Forgivable Loan (CNDT) are available to students seeking a first master’s degree in Dyslexia Therapy in an approved program of study that is based on the Orton-Gillingham teaching approach.  Students must be seeking a class “AA” Mississippi Educator License with a 203 (Dyslexia Therapy) designation.  Loans will be made to cover the full cost of tuition, materials and required fees.  The loan will forgiven for recipients who serve as dyslexia therapists in a public school/district in Mississippi for one year for every year of funding received.  Loan recipients who choose not to fulfill the service obligation will be required to repay the loan in full with interest.

Graduate Teacher, Counselor, School Administration Forgivable Loan

In 1993 the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning established the Graduate Teacher and the Counseling and School Administration Forgivable Loan Program (GTS/CSA). The program was designed as an incentive to encourage current licensed classroom teachers in our state’s public schools to pursue an advanced degree in education. The primary objective is to place master’s level teachers in our public school classroom and counseling and administration positions.

Graduate Studies in Nursing

Mississippi Nursing Education Forgivable Loan - MSN

The primary objectives of this program are to provide education opportunities to students who wish to continue their education in nursing and address Mississippi’s nursing shortage by providing a constant source of qualified nurses. NELM awards will be made available, to the extent of appropriated funds, to persons seeking a master’s degree in nursing at one Mississippi institution of higher learning in exchange for employment in professional nursing or teaching in an accredited school of nursing in the State of Mississippi.

Mississippi Nursing Education Forgivable Loan - DNP

Nursing Teacher Stipend Program is available to NELS participants who are pursuing an advanced degree in nursing and who contractually agree that upon degree completion will teach at an accredited school of nursing in the State of Mississippi:

Graduate Assistantships

Some university offices have positions for graduate assistants. These positions range from administrative work to assistant coaching. While most do not come with a traditional salary, they usually cover the cost of tuition. You can search for these positions and find out more on the Human Resources website.
