Do you ever wonder what life would be like if certain aspects of our world were different? Movies, especially science fiction, explore ideas like culture, society, communication, history, potential futures, diversity, and so many more. In this section of UN 101, we will explore the “What could be?” by looking at certain movies, that while they seem just fun fiction movies, the science they portray is real and the interactions and cultural situations are even more real. Let’s explore together!

Simulation and role-play video games provide users an opportunity to enter a fantasy world that utilizes interactive elements to give players a sense of creation and control. While these video games facilitate user-generated content for optimal customization, game developers provide everyday activities and narratives that players must navigate. In this course, we will explore sociocultural influences on gameplay development and player decisions. Students will gain a reflective understanding of gender, culture, society, and finances while engaging in critical discussions on video games as a form of entertainment and socialization.
